There’s no precise science for developing an early reader, but publishers take into account children’s reading ability, vocabulary and use of grammar. Children will love the fact that they can relate to one of the characters and see themselves in them. Registered office address: Unit 34 Vulcan House Business Centre, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EF. The books are fun, engaging, and educational, making them a great addition to any young reader's library.

Reading schemes focus on phonics, decoding and learning new words, but the key to early readers is that they engage and encourage children through the quality of the writing. They’re competent enough to decode for themselves and understand the meaning of the story, but the books they bring home from school tend to focus on increasing linguistic challenge rather than enjoyment. I particularly loved your handwriting sections and the ‘Learning Journey’ links that you have created. Early readers – also referred to as first readers – are stepping stones from picture books and reading scheme books to longer chapter books. In addition to helping young readers develop their reading skills, the Horrid Henry Early Readers series also promotes positive values and behaviours.
