Android Auto is a simple way to use your Android phone in the car. This model also offers USB Mirroring for Android phones enabling the whole phone handsets screen to be replicated on the 6.8” screen – ideal for entertainment from games to movies in your dashboard. We'd go as far as saying Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are must-have features on a new car, but now numerous big-name aftermarket audio firms provide compatible devices of some description. We tested Sony's option a few years ago and, while Kenwood's isn't a like-for-like alternative (technology moves fast and that review's now three years old), it is more advanced. band Graphic Equalizer gives you the possebility to fine-tune advanced sound properties to achieve professional audio sound quality in your vehicle. It allows you to set parameters of Q factor, slope, frequency and gain at 14 points separately (Common: 9 / Front: 2 / Rear: 2 / Subwoofer: 1). With adjustments such as high and low shelving filters, more realistic sound can be delivered.

Audio features

Our biggest complaint is that the Sony we previously tested used an old-fashioned volume knob rather than buttons. We find this more intuitive to use than the Kenwood's buttons but, if your car has steering wheel controls (our 2005 Toyota MR2 test vehicle doesn't) they can be connected to the media system.
