About this deal

Add baking soda into a large mixing bowl. You can use as much or as little as you want, but I usually use about 3 or 4 cups. When you place it in the freezer for a few minutes it comes out icy and feels like real snow! Well close enough. Physical reaction as opposed to a chemical reaction. The polymer changes physically from powder to artificial snow, but there is no new chemical made (so this is not a chemical reaction). Ice melting is another example of a physical reaction.

An example of this would be if it was very cold at the ground level, but you had relatively warmer air that is still below freezing aloft. This warmer air above the ground would have enough moisture to create snow that could fall into the very cold and dry air below. When you are done playing with your diaper snow, you can dry it out and then use it again by adding water next time! The baking soda and water (method 1) proved to be the best in the cold test category. This snow really felt as cold as the snow you would find outside on a cold winter day! This is the toughest category to rank the different methods that we tried because they all had a great snow-like texture in some form or another. When push comes to shove though I would have to say the shaving cream and corn starch (method 1) takes the top texture award! I just love how light and fluffy it is and yet you can still make a perfect snowball too! Clean-up: When push comes to shove though I would have to say the shaving cream and corn starch (method 3) takes the top texture award! I just love how light and fluffy it is! You can even make a snowball with it, but a snowman became a little bit more of a challenge! Clean-up: I also like to add a drop or two of food coloring to the vinegar. This will turn your snowman into whatever color you choose when you spray the vinegar onto it. The amount of water you add to the baking soda will also determine if you have a wet or powdery snow. Just like in the wonderful world of weather, the more water content that the snow has, the wetter and slushier it will be. Cold Test: The salt and water instant snow method feels pretty cold in the cold test department! As long as you use very cold water, then the temperature of your snow should feel very realistic!

So, let your imagination run wild with all the cool things you can do with Insta Snow powder. Try putting a little in the bottom of a champagne glass (but don't drink it, of course!). Or put some in a friend's water glass and watch their amazement when they fill it up with water. Pour some hair conditioner into the bowl of baking soda and mix it together. Much like the water, you will want to add less if you want powdery snow, and more if you want wet and slushy snow. Pour baking soda into a large mixing bowl. You can add as much or as little as you want, depending on how much you want to play with. One bag of non-toxic and environmentally safe Insta Snow makes about 2 gallons of fake snow. And yes, you can make a snowman with Insta Snow fake snow. Easy to makeAlthough the shaving cream and corn starch snow did not quite win the coldness contest or clean-up test, it came as a close runner up in both areas. The overall texture and ability to play with this snow for hours wins my vote for the best way how to make instant snow without baking soda! This is the real deal. Be aware of cheap imitations. It is hard to get instant snow powder that has true erupting WOW factor. To be sure ask if the snow needs to be stirred. If so, it is not the erupting kind. Optional: You can also a little salt to the mixture to give the snow a little more grainy, realistic feel.

Put some corn starch in you freezer the night before or at least a couple hours before making your snow if you want it to feel cold! Superabsorbent polymers and their use in real life applications, like in babys nappies and agriculture to retain water in soil. This is because a snowflake needs to pass through about 1,000 feet of above-freezing air to melt. If temperatures are well below freezing before they reach the temperatures that are above freezing they won’t have time to melt until they hit the ground. Can it be too Cold to Snow? The Insta Snow also includes an activity guide that explains the science behind the fake snow. And it’s easy to turn into snow – just add water and watch it erupt in seconds. Kids are always amazed at this!
