About this deal

There are a few factors worth knowing here, because different cameras use different terminology when talking about resolution, making them initially difficult to compare. There’s also a delay time between each clip, of around 15 seconds, so you miss some of the activity in between videos.

If a camera describes itself as “1080p”, this isn’t referring to the total number of pixels used for recording. “1080” refers to the size of the camera frame. When HD TVs first came out, they had a standard frame of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Therefore, “1080” is often associated with HD quality. If a camera says “1080p” then it will be approximately 2MP. Low-light illumination comes courtesy of an 850nm low-glow LED flash. Although not completely invisible to the naked eye, the flash causes disturbance to most wildlife and, with an illumination range of up to 25 metres, it’s ideal for larger gardens.

For example, you may have seen products described as ‘IP66’. The first number relates to how well the product is protected against ingress from solid objects (e.g., dust). The second number relates to how well the product is protected against water ingress. After using my A3-1 for a couple months the settings changed, possibly because the batteries depleted? After installing new batteries, in trying to reset settings, it's asking for a passcode to get access. I didn't put in a passcode to begin with and now I can't change my settings to what I want. Is there a default passcode to get me goin?

The SUNTEKCAM 24MP Wild Camera is a great budget option, offering many of the same features as more upmarket models. Trail cams only record for a short amount of time. Often, they record for around 30 seconds but some cameras let you choose how long to record for (commonly between 10 – 90 seconds). The A3S can be powered by eight AA batteries or via a 12v input and records straight to standard-sized SD cards. Unlike the vast majority of wildlife cameras, the Core DS-4K features a dual-sensor configuration. This means that, rather than relying on a single lens for both colour daylight and monochrome nighttime shots, the Core DS uses two independent sensors. With cameras optimised to different lighting conditions, it’s able to capture richer images both day and night. If you get really into using your trail camera, you might also be interested in a bird box camera – these are particularly interesting to keep an eye on in spring. There is a mounting strap included, for attaching the camera to small trees, and a fixed metal stand. No-glow LEDs are almost completely unnoticeable to animals, so wildlife is unlikely to get spooked when the lights come on and the camera starts recording. It’s well built, IP66 weather-resistant and, thanks to its internal display, straightforward to use. Stills are saved at up to 20 megapixels, and videos are recorded at 1080p. While there’s certainly some digital upscaling going on, the files deliver clear levels of detail, day and night.

What Is The UK’s Best Garden Wildlife Camera?

Hello, currently A3S camera can not use solar panels, but we are developing this function and expect to be able to achieve it in the near future. Thank you.

The best wildlife cameras for the garden will record videos with a resolution of 2 – 10MP (megapixels). However, you may also see “1080 pixels” mentioned, along with “HD”, “Full HD” or “4K” – so what do these mean and how can you compare them? There’s a built-in microphone and speaker, as well as a timer and timelapse function. The timer helps with conserving battery power and is relatively straightforward to program – there is a 960 x 240-pixel screen on the unit with a keypad for setting different functions. A wildlife camera’s protection against water ingress is measured using the IP (ingress protection) scale. However, they can also be pretty complicated to understand – especially if you’re new to the universe of cameras and don’t know what to look out for. There’s a lot of jargon mixed up with trail cameras that can get confusing. For night time images, you’ll require artificial light. Infrared options are the most popular as they won’t scare away the animals – unlike the blinding white flash of a traditional camera!

Comparing Game & Trail Cameras

The video recording length is also limited, to between 10 – 90 seconds, so don’t expect to capture any feature-length films. However, it’s worth pointing out that 90 seconds is actually longer than some other trail cams allow (for example, the GardePro A3 Camera can only record a maximum of 30 seconds). If the animal is still present after the recovery time, it will set off the camera again. However, if the recovery time is too long, you may miss out on a lot of valuable recording time. Instead of recording all night (or day) long, the camera only starts to record when it senses movement which is useful for saving both memory and battery. It requires an SD card to store the photos or videos, which doesn’t come included. Even when there’s very little light available, during cloudy nights for example, the camera is able to produce clear pictures using its low-light-recording features. These include no-glow LEDs and a large lens aperture. It records using a resolution of 1080p, which equates to approximately 2MP, at a rate of 30 frames per second. In most cases, you’ll likely be using the wildlife camera to record videos, so the video quality is the most important thing to look out for. However, you may want to look for a wildlife camera that can take photos too . In this case, you should choose a camera that is capable of taking photos in 12 – 24MP. A camera that can take 24MP photos is worth looking out for if you want crisp still images .
