About this deal

Although the S5600 is happy shooting interiors thanks to the impressive ISO range, AF-assist lamp and powerful flash, it's perhaps best suited for outdoor photography where users can really take advantage of its strong but lightweight body, range of shooting modes and long-range zoom lens.

DSLR and bridge camera models Fujifilm FinePix S2 Pro Fujifilm FinePix S5000 Fujifilm FinePix S100fs Fujifilm FinePix S700 Fujifilm S9500 Fujifilm S8000fd S9500; S8000fd and S5700 Fujifilm FinePix SL 1000 Overall, I would say this camera would appeal to someone with some basic experience of a point-and-shoot digital who would now like to take a few steps further into the field of photography. Focal range: Normal: Wide-angle: approx 90cm to infinity (in high-speed shooting mode; approx 2m to infinity) Telephoto: approx 2m to infinity (in high-speed shooting mode; approx 4m to infinity) Macro: Wide-angle: approx 10cm to 2m (in high-speed shooting mode; approx 10cm to 2m) At 800 ISO there is some image noise starting to appear in the darker areas, and some fine detail has been lost to the noise reduction system, but the results are still extremely good. Taken in natural colour mode, this shot again shows the slightly muted colours, as well as the ghastly purple fringes around the brighter highlights.AF system: TTL contrast-type, AF frame selection: AF (centre), AF (multi), AF (area), AF assist illuminator ISO 200 is the default setting in automatic mode, and produces superb results that are still completely noise-free. Featuring a new Anti-Blur mode designed to reduce the effects of camera shake or blurring caused by moving objects, low-light shooting is also possible thanks to a wide sensitivity range of 64 to 1600 ISO. Powerful zoom camera improves on successful Fujifilm formula with Anti-Blur Mode and lightning fast response times

The FinePix S5600 will be available in September, with pricing to be announced nearer the time. For more information go to www.fujifilm.co.uk or call 0207 586 1477. The S5600 was launched just a year after its predecessor, the S5100, hit the stores. While both share many visual similarities, the S5600 sports a number of significant improvements and refinements, notably the camera's new 5th Generation 5-megapixel Super CCD HR sensor and Real Photo processor. Overall, I've found that the Finepix S5600 takes beautiful portraits and can produce very nice macro shots. However, shots taken at medium and long range are not as sharp as they could be and at times the standard colour setting produces results that appear a little drab, although a chrome setting is provided and produces very vivid colours. The sharpness issue is easily corrected: by loading images into The Gimp and adding a slight sharpening filter I've managed to produce some striking landscape shots. This is just the digital equivalent of retouching negatives so I don't count this as cheating. In fact, learning how to Photoshop your pictures should be considered part and parcel of learning more about photography in the digital age. This shot was taken at the widest zoom setting. Equivalent to 38mm it isn’t really wide enough for panoramic landscapes.

Beneath its robust body lie the sensor enhancements that make the FinePix S5200 Zoom punch above its weight. Boasting a new 5th Generation five megapixel Super CCD HR sensor and Fujifilm’s new Real Photo Technology, the FinePix S5200 Zoom has the power to capture large images with incredible clarity and detail in a range of lighting conditions. Complete with an unrivalled sensitivity range from ISO 64 to ISO 1600, the camera makes it possible to achieve crisp photographs with minimal noise, even in very low light conditions. The Anti-Blur Mode, which exploits the camera’s exceptional ISO capabilities, reduces blurring caused by movement of the user, as well as movement blur caused by the subject, making it much more effective than image stabilisation technology alone. The camera was introduced by Fuji on July 28, 2005. It was awarded the title of best zoom camera for 2006/2007 by the EISA.
