Admittedly, I didn’t sweat all that much in 30 minutes time. The Gatorade app said I sweat at a rate of 19 to 22 ounces per hour (which was on the low end of their spectrum), and a sodium concentration of zero. I wanted to earn my stripes, and for once, my sweat felt like the defining factor.

The unexpectedly huge popularity of low-tech bottle personalization (names, colors, teams, numbers), as they became a statement of identity and creativity for athletes. The “ah ha” came when players put masking tape and their names on bottles with their unique formulas during COVID. Of the failures, 1 patch did not adhere to the skin properly and half peeled off during the session, so the data from that one may be questionable. 1 patch failed to scan, despite repeated attempts, so did not return any data. Air bubbles were present in the dye channel for sweat rate and sodium concentration. The other 2 failed to collect enough sweat to scan properly at all, despite total measured sweat losses of ~0.4l during indoor cycling sessions (both of these were on the same athlete during separate sessions).
