It was my friend Carlos that gave me a home-recorded tape with some songs from the album, and I was amazed by its sound. originally released in 1993, is one of the first albums to combine a live jazz band with hip hop production and rapping.

This is the first hip hop album, to my mind, which features live guest appearences of legendary Jazz-Funk or Soul-Jazz musicians like Donald Byrd, Roy Ayers and Lonnie Liston Smith.
